Former Colorado Rockies center fielder Dexter Fowler has joined a consortium led by billionaire Bill Foley that owns Premier League club AFC Bournemouth, according to Sportico. Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan also became an investor in Bournemouth back in 2022.
Fowler, who retired from professional baseball last year, expressed his belief that he can assist Jordan in turning Bournemouth into a “global entity” after deciding to step into sports team ownership. “That’s the ultimate goal for many athletes,” Fowler told Sportico. “At some point, we all want to own our own team. Once you get involved and start understanding the logistics and business operations of a club, it really benefits you on that front.”
Fowler’s involvement with Foley and Bournemouth isn’t his only venture in football. The 38-year-old also holds a minority stake in French Ligue 2 club Lorient FC, which a billionaire owns.
