Luckily, sharing a Wi-Fi password is easier than ever on both Android and iOS devices, thanks to a few simple tricks. You can either share the password directly or show the network’s QR code, making the process quick and seamless. Android Police offers detailed steps for this.
For Android users, here’s how you do it:
- Open the Settings app on your phone.
- Tap Network & internet, then select Internet.
- Choose the network you want to share and tap the gear icon next to it.
- Hit the Share button and confirm your unlock code.
- Either copy the password or let your friend scan the QR code.
For iPhone users on iOS 16:
- Go to Settings and tap on Wi-Fi.
- Find the network you’re connected to and tap the Info button (the “i” inside a circle).
- Tap on the Password field.
- Use your passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID to reveal the password.
On older iOS versions, you can still share your Wi-Fi by following a few extra steps:
- Hold your iPhone or iPad close to your friend’s device.
- Have them try to connect to your network.
- When the “Share Your Wi-Fi” window appears, tap Share Password.
- The security code will be sent to their device, and they’ll be connected.
- Tap Done on your iPhone.
Note that for this to work, you need to have your friend’s Apple ID saved in your Contacts, and both devices need to have Bluetooth enabled.
