Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has turned down a €70 million transfer offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, with his agent Roberto Calenda stating that the Napoli star is focused on continuing his career in European football.
Amid ongoing transfer speculation, Osimhen has received interest from several top European and Middle Eastern clubs. Despite lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League, the 25-year-old prefers to stay in Europe, particularly aiming for the English Premier League.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Osimhen and his agent rejected the Saudi offer on Monday, citing issues related to salary and release clauses. The striker, who has been training separately from the Napoli squad, may still be on the move before the transfer window closes.
Calenda affirmed Osimhen’s decision on social media, emphasizing that the player is committed to his current club and has no immediate plans to leave Europe. “Osimhen is a Napoli player with a renewed contract and still has much to accomplish in Europe,” Calenda said. “He has significant goals yet to achieve, including further recognition and respect.”
Osimhen’s situation at Napoli remains complex. Although he was a key player in Napoli’s Serie A title win two seasons ago, he has been sidelined recently due to transfer discussions. His contract, which includes a €130 million release clause and runs until June 2026, has made negotiations difficult with potential European suitors like Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
Al-Ahli had reportedly come close to agreeing on a €65 million deal with Napoli, but the transfer fell through due to Osimhen’s reluctance to move without a release clause that would allow him a future return to Europe.
Chelsea remains interested but has not made an official offer, with Osimhen’s high wage demands being a barrier. Paris Saint-Germain, having previously discussed terms with the striker, has yet to advance their interest.
Despite various offers, Osimhen is committed to pursuing his ambitions in Europe, believing that his best years are still ahead of him.
